Lexus ES : Luxury carmaker Lexus will introduce the all-new Lexus ES in India on March 20, 2026, bringing the latest generation of its premium sedan to the country less than a year after its global unveiling. The updated ES will continue to compete with established rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series LWB, and Audi A4 in the midsize luxury sedan segment.

Lexus ES : Sharper and More Futuristic Exterior

The latest ES adopts a more modern and aggressive design compared to the outgoing model. At the front, sleek Z-shaped lighting elements integrate the daytime running lights and turn indicators. The primary headlamps are positioned below these lights and are partially hidden by vertical gloss-black panels.

Unlike the current ES, the new version drops the traditional spindle grille design. Instead, the front bumper features a smaller air intake accompanied by distinctive diamond-pattern detailing.

From the side, the sedan gets a sportier silhouette, highlighted by a strong character line accented with gloss-black trim. New alloy wheel designs and a sloping roofline further enhance its dynamic appearance.

At the rear, the ES features a full-width LED light bar with illuminated “LEXUS” branding. L-shaped creases with chrome accents add visual depth to the tail design.

Dimensionally, the new ES has grown significantly. It is 165mm longer, 55mm wider, and around 110–115mm taller than the current model, while the wheelbase has been extended by 80mm, promising improved interior space.

Lexus ES : Modern Interior with Larger Screens

Inside the cabin, Lexus has moved away from the button-heavy layout of the previous generation. The dashboard now features a cleaner, more minimal design, with many functions integrated into a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen that also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Several controls on the centre console now use touch-capacitive surfaces, though the three-spoke steering wheel still retains physical buttons for convenience. It also replaces the traditional “L” emblem with ‘LEXUS’ lettering.

The feature list is extensive and includes:

  • 12.3-inch digital driver display
  • Mark Levinson premium sound system
  • Electrochromic panoramic glass roof
  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Boss mode for rear passengers
  • Powered front seats with memory function
  • Reclining rear seats

Lexus also claims improvements in cabin refinement through better door sealing and enhanced sound-insulating glass, aimed at reducing noise, vibration, and harshness levels.

Lexus ES : Hybrid Powertrains Expected for India

Globally, the new ES is available with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. Since the outgoing ES in India is offered exclusively as a hybrid, the upcoming model is also expected to follow the same strategy.

Internationally, the ES 300h is available with two petrol-hybrid options:

  • 2.0-litre hybrid producing 197hp
  • 2.5-litre hybrid producing 201hp

The higher-performance ES 350h uses the same 2.5-litre hybrid engine but delivers 247hp. All hybrid variants are paired with an e-CVT transmission, and buyers can choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations.

Electric Versions Offered Overseas

In global markets, Lexus also offers fully electric ES versions. The ES 350e uses a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup producing 224hp and offers a CLTC-claimed range of 685km. The more powerful ES 550e features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system generating 343hp and can travel up to 610km on a single charge.

Performance figures show the 350e accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, while the 550e completes the same sprint in 5.9 seconds.

It remains unclear whether these EV variants will be introduced in India, but the hybrid versions are almost certain to be part of the launch lineup.
